Who Really Needs a Bailout: Joe the Veteran
I have sat back and watched the companies who have handled their money poorly and now have the nerve, the gall the audacity to ask the American people to bail them out. Well if anyone is listening, I have a great candidate for your bail out. I know someone who has had tons of adversity. He was pushed off his job as a Sheriff 12 years ago due to a hostile work environment initiated by he other Sheriffs when they learned that he was married to a white woman. He went back into the military (he served 4 years before becoming a Sheriff) and served a tour in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was a victim of the subprime mortgage rate crisis and lost his home and rental property. I forgot to mention that he was a single father, the pressure, and stress from losing his job as a Sheriff took a toll on his marriage. Recently he filed bankruptcy. The repossession truck came to his home to get his car and he told them the car was covered under the bankruptcy. The repo men called the police and said they were being assaulted and they arrested him for assault due to the fact that it was two of them against him although since he gotten witnesses saying he did nothing wrong. Now this disabled veteran lives with his younger brother and his family of four, sleeps on an air mattress, and has no means of transportation.
This is a true story and there are many like them we have turned our back on “Joe the Veteran”. While we allow our legislators to write these big checks to Wall Street and the big three, think about who is going to protect the ones who have put their lives on the line to serve our country.
