The Peace Jurga and the War on Terror
Karzai the Fool has conveyned a Peace Jurga. He invited elders and other players to join his so-called jurga. This was a supposed promise made to help jumpstart his so-called Government.
As be began this jurga, the Taliban staged an attack at the Conference Site. A Battle with the Taliban Suicide Fanatics ensued. Afghan security forces killed a couple of them and apparently apprehended one. Although this was foiled, one fact remains undisputed: They can attack anywhere in Afghanistan. No where and no one is safe.
I was struck when I saw bullet holes in the tent where the meeting was being held. From the composition of the folks who have supposedly attended this jurga, it appears that it does not represent the wide spectre of Afghan Society. How can the World have confidence in such a man who has simply gone from one disaster to another? When will the World realize that there needs to be a different way? Karzai is not the answer.
