The On-Going Conservative Rampage in America
Conservatives have had a field day. Rudy Giulanni, the self-declared hero of 9-11, came out saying that there was no attack on America on ABC. As I listened to the clip on ABC News, I nearly fell out of my chair in laughter: Really Long Link
Now what is the War on Terror? What I find funny is how dismissive Rudy was of the work at hand. He says that there was no domestic attack under Bush. Hello?!??!? What about 9//11? How far will the Conservatives go to continue to instill fear to use it as a ticket to get back into power so that we can have more of the same?
The Republican Chairman, Michael Steele, seems to have it right when he says that the Republicans are not ready to take on power. He is having a book tour and making some great money with speaking engagements. But, I think the Republicans will be fools if they don't listen to him. I noted this when I wrote on it in SP's sister site, Outsider Views, when he was named as Chairman. The Republicans have gotten away with the myth of being responsible on national security while in fact they have done everything possible to undermine it with what they have done.
As I thought about the Conservative Rampage I wanted to revisit some of the alternative views that we should truly listen to. This is so simple, yet so eloquent:
What is clear is that the world continues to burn as the economic calamity of the world goes on. The underlying issues that drives individuals to terrorism needs to be understood. People have to have hope and an opportunity to grow. That's the problem I have with Afghanistan and the simplistic manner in which the so-called surge is being addressed.
