The Furor over Aung San Suu Kyi
The whole world has condemned an extension of Aung San Suu Kyi's detention. I join in that furor. However, I also view the reduction in sentence order by the Junta Leader as a reasonably good sign. It shows that there is a realization at least that Burma has to go beyond this "facade" of normalcy that the junta has imposed on it for the past 20 years. Maybe Burma will change after all.
