The Death of Eugène Terre’Blanche (An Update)
I have been heartened by the grace shown by Jacob Zuma and the leadership of the African National Congress since the killing of Eugène Terre’Blanche. I hope that cooler heads prevail:
It was a cowardly act indeed. What I find very disturbing is what the head of ANC's youth league, Julius Melema, noted during his visit to Zimbabwe. He said that he had no regrets about singing the song and would do it again and won't be intimidated by "Boers". Although a Boer means farmer in Afrikanner, it is a racist term that the man used with impunity. That should not be tolerated.
On a side note, I also found the analysis by Dr. Habib of the University of Johanersberg is also quite on pointe about how the World changed because of a terrible decision by the Bush Adminstration. He has also indicted South Africa in a major way which presents a major challenge for the current South African leadership. I also found his observation about how South Africa and the U.S. was so much similar. He called it a Mini-United States. His call for a more Social Democratic Agenda is something that should be taken to heart
What he noted is scary. Will the South African leaders listen or merely pay lipservice to it?
