The Conscious of the World
Whenever I have the privilege to listen to Arundhati Roy and to read her work, she reflects upon a truth that is frankly too tough for the rest of the world to comprehend and understand. This interview that I listened to is quite an indictment of President Obama's Policy and the true corruption that is on-going in India today. I am also quite taken aback by her reporting on the Maoist insurgency. She has tried to speak up for the truth. It was quite strikiing that she called the Maoist insurgency Gandhian.
Arundhati Roy reminded the world that the people have no hope at all. I have to wonder how can India be called a true Democracy when it condemns the people who only aspire to have the simplest of Civil Rights? How can there be a claim to true Democracy when over 700,000 soldiers are in Kashmir? The United States, by comparison, has about 160,000 soldiers in Iraq.
I consider Arnundhati Roy to be the Conscious of the World because she has worked in a concerted way to speak up for those who can't speak for themselves. I look forward to her comments and to hopefully give further voice to what she tries to do through the "outsiders" network because the World truly needs to know and understand.
