The Audacity of Hope Book Review
New York Times #1 Best Seller
The Audacity of Hope certainly did live up to its hype. My hesitance to read this was only due to fear that Senator Barack Obama’s sophomore effort would not hold a candle to his first book, Dreams from my Father. Only a few pages into I realized I would not have that problem. Where Dreams from my Father is autobiography, The Audacity of Hope could almost be use as required reading in any political science class. Senator Obama lays out his beliefs and principles all on the table for anyone who questions it. The book is a quick read although the verbiage may not be as remedial as some would like it to be (lets just say Senator Obama attorney side wrote this book). I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in chosing the best candidate for President. I am not saying everyone will finish this book and go to www.barackobama.com and pledge $2300. I am saying that you will get a clear picture of what Senator Obama believes and you can match them up with your own beliefs precisely.
One thing that surprised me the most about this book is how far to the center Senator Obama has always been. The media seems to want to portray him as someone who has moved toward the center post primary and according to his book his has always been. As someone who is a supporter of Senator Obama I was relieved. The media is so powerful it makes you second guest what you know to be true about a candidate at times.
On a scale of 1-10, 10 being best, I give The Audacity of Hope a perfect 10 and would advise anyone who is voting in November to read it.
