Smooth Political - Politics Unleashed

I am just a concerned United States citizen who cares about American Politics and the future of our country.

WTF?!?!?: No Death Penalty For Child Rape?

supreme court child rape
Who Is Going To Protect Us?

The Supreme Court has all gone senile. If you can think of any reason why some low life ought to be put to death it is child rape. It never ceases to amaze me the value put on this country’s children. Their logic is only death constitutes death. What about quality of life? What about the death of childhood innocence? What about the death of trust? What about the death naivety? The Supreme Court certainly got his one wrong. Our U.S. Supreme Court ruled 5-4 Wednesday that child rapists cannot be executed, concluding that capital punishment can be applied only against murderers. If you are going to have the death penalty in place, the first people to fry should be the ones who prey on defenseless children. I have a hard time understanding how these Supreme Court justices will be able to sleep at night knowing that they have allowed a child rapist to keep his/her life when the life of the child victims will be forever changed. This sickens me. It should sicken you. If ever there were a reason to march on Washington, this would be the reason. What is wrong with these people? How can they justify this decision in their minds? I apologize for the babbling folks its just I am floored. The highest court in the land has set a precedence for slime balls everywhere to keep their life while the child continues to fight internal demons they’re entire life. Frankly there are no words to express my disappointment.

I'm not sure what to make of this... rape is a terrible crime, but I quite firmly believe that the government should never have the power to kill a person.

Cibbuano, I guess what I am saying is, since the death penalty is legal, raping a child would be a darn good reason to flip the switch

I think the Supreme Court is looking to a future where there no longer is a death penalty. To approve the death penalty in cases of child rape would be a step backwards from this goal.

Again I say, this government and the judicial system is a joke. No longer a death penalty? No wonder the jails are all overcrowded and some inmates have to be released early because there is no more room. I believe all murderers should immediately be executed (except in self defense), child rapists and murderers should be the first to go!! They do not deserve to be in the prison system receiving three meals a day, watching TV, exercising etc...! They have a better life in jail than out ! The Supreme Court are a bunch of freaking buffons who don't give a damn about the American people but care only about their power, riches and status. And please don't get me started on the President! This country needs to get tough and grow a set of balls.

RubySoho, that is an interesting perspective. It is hard to conceive that the American people would ever believe there was no case in which the death penalty was necessary

Anonymous, I think they have balls, they just don't have brains to go with them that poses a big problem

America is the only developed country that still executes prisoners. NGO's like Amnesty International are constantly putting pressure on America to ban the death penalty. As the rest of the developed world starts to see it as more and more barbaric, America risks being viewed as backwards and obsolete. It'll happen. Not soon but eventually.

Ruby Soho, yes I don't see it happening soon. America is very young country in comparison to the others.
9. June 26th 2008 @ 16:43. RubySoho Says:
Well I'm an Australian. We are even younger than you and we haven't executed anyone since 1967. So I don't think that's the reason.

RubySoho,

Not saying thats the only reason. To look at the reasons you really have to go back to the history of our country and look at who benefits from having the death penalty. It's a lot deeper than that
