SP Week-End Notes: About Time...
The Federal Trade Commision has thrown down the gauntlet on Bloggers-For-Hire. The case of Julia Allison is one example. She apparently did a write-up on how she loved Sea World. The problem was that she was being paid by Sea World to do this. Others have also done this. The FCC wants to stop it and has given notice.
This move by the Government has all kinds of questions that could conceivably be raised. There needs to be a culture of transparency and special care that is needed for those of us in Alternative Media who want to build the crediblity that is vital for success. Although the two giants of the interent will continue to loom large, it is those practitioners of Web 2.0 and Web 3.0 that will be ready to give the traditional content companies (News Corp; Disney/ABC, CBS, NBC, etc.) a run for their money. NBC is already on the shopping block. Newspapers are shutting down. The shakeout will just have to work itself out.
