SP Week-End II (3/7/2010): The Peace Overture by the Indian Maoists
The leader of the Indian Maoists has apparently made a peace overture. According to reports, he is noting that if independent observers join the talks, he will be ready to talk to the Indian Government. Arundhati Roy and BD Sharma have been specifically named. I was gratified to see that and Arundhati Roy's willingness to be involved. She has been a vocal and courageous voice for human rights for the dispossessed for the longest time. I hope that the Government of India finds the courage and the deceny to begin the dialogue.
