SP Week-End (8/8/2010): The Cont'd Tragedy in Afghanistan & Pakistan

Pakistanis continue to suffer as the rains rage on. As Punjab has been pounded, the rain has moved on to Sindh. Over 14 Million People have been impacted. The suffering is simply beyond words:

While Pakistanis have been trying to just stay alive, their so-called President continued to be in Europe. He was always a joke, anyway. His conduct just proved it. I nearly fell off my chair in laughter when he noted that it was the Prime Minister's responsiblity as "Chief Executive" to deal with it. He just underscored the fact that he was a useless fool. He did attend a rally with his son, though. I wish I would have been at that rally, because Pakistanis at the rally booed him and gave him a taste of the true realities. He also said in interviews that he was "open" to talks with the Taliban. Why would the Taliban want to talk to this clown anyway?

Moving on to Afghanistan, I was sick to my stomach when I saw the reports of the death of 10 people--including 7 Doctors by the hands of the Taliban. The reports note how these poor souls were first robbed and then killed. The only guy saved was a guy who was reciting the Quran. I am trying to understand what prompted them to do this. There is no justification whatsoever for this crime. If there was a Government, of course, this would be avenged. The useless Karzai, though, continues to play the part of President. He was in Tehran at a regional summit this past week. I was quite impressed, though, at the revamped website--US Tax Payer money in action!!!!

The only reality in Afghanistan is that people continue to die. As the Pentagon goes after Wikileaks, the real debate continues to be ever more muddled. The war is being lost. No one within the governing elite wants to discuss it. This is so tragic in light of the poor souls who went to Afghanistan to serve their fellow humans. I pray for their souls and for the almighty to grant their families the comfort that they are in a better place and died in service of their fellow man. I pray that they have not died in vain.
