SP Newsflash (6/9/2010)-Afghanistan and the Price....
Karzai the Useless, the so-called President of Afghanistan, seems to continue to show the World how useless he truly is. As I have repeatedly written in "outsiders", the man seems to be clueless. Although I welcomed the New York Times story about Karzai firing two of the best officials in his Government, it is too little too late.
The man has no clue what needs to be done. Despite putting him under pressure, he was then wined and dined by U.S. Officials. I noted this hypocracy in "Outsiders". When will the United States wake up? When will President Obama understand that Afghanistan is our generations Vietnam?
America has been at war continously for 9 years. What I find especially troubling is a recent investigation by ProPublica and NPR about the fact that the US Army has no clue about how many people exactly have sustained brain injuries. As I briefly listened to the dispatch on a news show, my eyes nearly popped out. There were estimated figures of 400,000 soldiers. I have released the ProPublica link which is telling.
As for some real news, a NATO convoy was attacked in Pakistan. So, the notion of the Pakistanis making headway against the so-called Pakistani Taliban is a joke. This past Monday, 10 NATO soldiers died--including 7 Americans.
I wonder about the immense price America will continue to pay long after this war is finished. All the results of one misguided decision.....
