SP Cool Facts (2/4/2010): Some Interesting "Stuff"
This is a new feature I have decided to launch here in "outsiders". I am a fan of politifact and FactCheck.Org. The reason that I decided to do this is because there are some startling stats that I ran across courtesy of the indepdent author John Kador who has done a wonderful job complying this data for Chief Executive Magazine. Here are some telling stats:
1) Number of US Bank failures in 2009 as of Dec 15, 2009:
133 (One Hundred Thirty Three)
2) Bank failures in Canada since the economic meltdown:
0 (ZERO)
3) Average amount spent on congressional lobbying, per day, by US healthcare companies: 1,500,000 (that's one million five hundred thousand dollars per day);
We have to truly figure out how to do things differently. Governing is tough and the challenges are profound. Even though governing is tough, leading is even tougher. Will the leaders actually be leaders and not be followers? I wonder.
