Reflections
Over the past two years, I have continued to be focused on "Outsiders" to hopefully begin to build a "Third Way" of looking at the World. I have continued to be concerned about the increase acrimony in political discourse. I have continued to be concerned at the increased politicization of the Judiciary. What also scared me was a session I attended whereby there was a presentation about the rise of hate groups and militias. The idea and the objective of "outsiders" was to create a platform to hopefully transform the debate and to truly elevate the debate.
As I periodically do, I will be taking some time to reflect. I will also be serving as an Election Coordinator for the upcoming November 2 Elections and will be back to my daily commentary/write-ups starting November 3, whereby I will launching a number of new initiatives here including Obama 2.0: The Roadmap Ahead while continuing the focus on the Middle East and the Americas Watch Weekly Write-ups I have done.
Over the ensuing weeks, I will also work to transform OV's sister sites, Kitten Politics and Smooth Polticial, with more commentary on the State of Technology, a focus on the Media (in the tradition of both Media Matters, the Media Research Center, FactCheck.Org). The Media focus will also include an assessment on both the left, right and center thinking on the Media Today. I have been fascinated by the rise of Glenn Beck and how he has transformed his brand in the way that he has. I also enjoy how Bill O'Reilly uses his Fox Show to promote his "premium membership" which has also been used by Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck. It is a money making machine.
As I conclude, I ran across this courtesy of Jonathan Lockwood Huie. I have released the link to all. I have strived not to be the "Brick", but I will do my utmost to be the Brick so that there is that awarness and understanding.
I hope all enjoy this story. I also urge all who live in the United States to please go out and vote. It does not matter what party you are, just vote for the sake of Democracy!!!
"See" you all on November 3rd.
The Brick - Anonymous
Variations of this story have been around a long time.
As a young and successful executive was traveling down a neighborhood street, going a bit too fast in his new Jaguar, a brick smashed into the Jag's side door. The angry driver slammed on the brakes and backed the Jag back to the spot where the brick had been thrown. He jumped out of the car, grabbed the nearest kid and pushed him up against a parked car shouting, "What was that all about and who are you? Just what the heck are you doing? That's a new car and that brick you threw is going to cost a lot of money. Why did you do it?"
The young boy was apologetic. "Please, mister ... please, I'm sorry but I didn't know what else to do. I threw the brick because no one else would stop..." With tears dripping down his face and off his chin, the youth pointed to a spot just around a parked car. "It's my brother,' he said. "He rolled off the curb and fell out of his wheelchair and I can't lift him up."
Now sobbing, the boy asked the stunned executive, "Would you please help me get him back into his wheelchair? He's hurt and he's too heavy for me."
Moved beyond words, the driver tried to swallow the rapidly swelling lump in his throat. He hurriedly lifted the handicapped boy back into the wheelchair, then took out a linen handkerchief and dabbed at the fresh scrapes and cuts. A quick look told him everything was going to be okay.
"Thank you and may God bless you," the grateful child told the stranger.
Too shook up for words, the man simply watched the boy push his wheelchair-bound brother down the sidewalk toward their home.
Don't go through life so fast that someone has to throw a brick at you to get your attention.
