"Outsiders" View of the Month: A New Dawn in the Middle East: Why can't the truth be told?
Tariq Ali: From Cairo to Madison - The Arab Revolution and a World in Motion from N Alexander on Vimeo.
The Arab Revolution continues to be in full force. I have been thinking about the latest developments. The winds of change has been sweeping throughout the region and it continues on right now. Even Israel is in the midst of change and protests that continues even today. Democracy and winds of change is in full swing and no one seems to stop it.
I was keen to see what Tariq Ali Thought. What he said--and is even more true now--is how everywhere there is that yearning for change. HIs broad brush of the region included Jordan. I am with Tariq Ali in that the King is in trouble. I actually personally like Abdullah because of his views and his outlook. But, the people of Jordan want change and the opposition has already been up in arms against the reforms approved by the King.
As the winds of change continue to blow ever more, I wondered about Iran. I am sure that the leaders in Tehran are watching what is happening in Syria with interest as they do what they can to help their brother Bashar. They are also probably watching with great interest what Mubarak has to deal with. The winds of change will continue--and there is stopping it. That much is certain because although the despots may win the battles, they will not win the war.
