"Outsiders" US Economy Watch (Jan 2012): "Build to Last"
Welcome to 2012!!!
It has been quite a year. Earlier, I released a retrospective on the Election Season in SP's sister site, Outisder Views. I wanted to begin this "watch" on the state of the Economy .
The US Economy has been growing. The growth has been anemic and the growth has not trickled down to pick up the necessary job growth. The Obama Adminstration has touted the job creation engine that has helped to bring the so-called official unemployment rate down to the current level. To help things along, the President delivered his Annual State of the Union (SOTUS) as mandated by the US Constitution and it was generally perceived to be a good speech.
The one theme that I found quite striking was his theme of "Build to Last". It was quite striking how he took the theme away from one of the top management thinkers of our time, Jim Collins. There is a general consesus that the United States needs to be rebuilt in a major way. The question is how this is going to happen.
The debate is just starting to shape up.........
