Jamaica On Fire.....
The past week has seen Jamaica going up in Smoke. Jamaica is beautiful. I have not had the privilege to visit there, yet. Yet, the accounts of what I have read is simply horrific.
What started this "inferno" was the decision by Jamaica's Prime Minister, Bruce Golding, to agree to apprehend a supposed drug dealer and extradiate him to the United States. The problem was that this man had the back of Jamaica's Labor Party. What is making this even more ironic is that the district in Kingston, Jamaica's Capital, is the Prime Minister Parliamentary Constituency.
What is going on in Jamaica is just one symptom of what is going on in Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Suriname and the rest of Latin America. The Drug Cartels are increasingly make headway, taking over countries and forcing countries into narco-states. Until such time as povertry and deprivation continues to be the order of the day, it provides the opening for the thugs and the merchants of death to continue to make headway. There lies the tragedy.
