Haiti: Will It ever get back on its feet?
The Whole World has mobilized for Haiti. I have been reviewing the reports and saw Bill Clinton arriving to offer support. The World should feel proud to have mobilized. The problem is that the aid is not arriving fast enough and people are becoming ever more desparate.
Right now, I am monitoring a live broadcast from Al Jazeera in Port-0-Prince. The UN is now facing a fuel shortage. The slow pace of aid delivery is impacting work throughout the city. They're not able to get basic medical supplies. As for the people still trapped, there are still a few stories of hope as they are coming out. People have nothing to look forward to right now--they are just desparate.
Haiti is a country that is existing in name only. Maybe this is probably the chance that Haiti will emerge from this once in for all. I wonder if the world will stay at it as the media will eventually move on to other "news of the day". I, for one, will continue to write and reflect upon Haiti. It is the right thing to do. The World must not forget.
