Google's Fight w/China
Google has threatened to pull out of China. I think that Google's threat is in line with their philosophy to do no harm and do no evil. China is an emerging Super Power and is a force to be reckoned with. So, for Google to pick a fight with China is quite gutsy to say the least.
As I have been thinking about this, I also read up what Google had to say about it in Googleblog. It basically said that it is objecting to China's censorship rules. But, the problem is that if Google decides to pull out, it might make things even worst. It may well be that Google has decided that sticking it out in China is not worth it. With Baidu being the 1000-pound guerilla in the room, Google will have a run for its' money.
I checked out Baidu. I do not speak or read Chinese. But, I used Google's Translation Service to sign up for Baidu to understand its' capabilities. I even launched a blog and did a brief write-up for my Baidu Blog. They seem to have stolen a book out of Google itself with how they have laid things out and how they have worked to lay out the "products". I have been impressed with what I have seen.
I wonder where it all end and who will win.
