D-Day: Our Obligation
D-Day celebrations were in full swing earlier today in Normandy. 65 years ago, the world came together to defeat evil. The World won because it came together. I was also struck when I saw images of the President visiting Bucuwalt. I also view the President's admonition to the Holocaust naysayers as vital to reinforce the U.S. "unbreakable" bond with Israel. Israelis should be heartened by that speech. But, that "love" should be reinforced by a "tough love" necessary to achieve peace. Peace will mean being bold and courageous.
As we continue to remember, I truly wonder if the leaders of today will muster the courage of all who fought 65 years ago to overcome evil . We have a world that is more interdependent than ever before. We ought to see "beyond the now". I wonder if that courage exists.
