China: Challenges As the New Year Begins
China has been celebrating the new year. Some 700 Million People have gone home. I am always amazed by this massive movement and how somehow it all works itself out.
China, though, has some profound challenges as the new year begins. I have just seen reports that the State Bank of China has raised interest rates to help cool the overheated Real Estate Market. One thing that China has also had challenges with is the job market and the new graduates that hit the job market every year. There was a feature story about two Chinese graduates who were trying to find a job and were rightly worried. The transformation of the young is something that has to be of profound concern to the Government.
Anyone who ignores China ignores it at its' peril. The social, economic and political transformation of China must be understood. As I have written before, it is bound to be a fascinating journey.
