Sorry Conservatives. Barack Hussein Obama Isn't Scary

There. I said it. I often laugh when conservatives claim that saying Barack Obama’s middle name, Hussein makes liberals cringe. Fortunately, most liberals are enlightened and educated enough to realize how common this name is in the world. For those conservatives who believe that Americans are ignorant enough to not realize the fear mongering behind making a mark at the name Hussein, here is some information that may enlighten you.

Hussein is a derivative of Hasan meaning good or handsome. It does not mean anything evil or sinister. This name should not invoke fear in the American people. If Barack Hussein Obama’s middle name was Timothy or James would people liken him to Timothy James McVeigh the Oklahoma City bomber? I would venture to say no. The conservative right has built the last 7 years on fear and divisiveness. They would like you to believe that all Muslims are the same and they are all evil. This is no truer than in any other religion. You will find extreme Christians who have harmed abortion clinics. You will find Jehovah’s witnesses who will not get a blood transfusion to save their life. I believe America has learned from its mistakes. We allowed our President to take us into an unnecessary war based on fear. Americans have caught on to the game my friend. The conservatives will no longer have this edge. The Huffington Post has reported that certain Obama supporters have changed their name to Hussein in support of him.

I am sorry conservative right. You are going to have to put the fear card back in your deck along with the race and age card. The American people are officially on to you.

I completely agree with you. I wish people would wake up and see how ignorant and small minded it is to judge someone by their name, especially their middle name. You should check out my post about John McCain's middle name, its a little more light hearted but makes the same point.
