As Iraq Draws Down...Afghanistan's Inferno Rages On....
The talk of the town in the United States was on the official end of US Combat Operations in Iraq. I wrote about it in SP's sister site, Outsider Views. Iraq continues to be as precarious as ever as they are yet to have a Government.
Moving on to the other war, Afghanistan continues to rage on. What I am bothered by is the story in the New York Times about the collapse of a major Afghan Bank. What I find troubling is that the Bank's major shareholders are a brother of Hamid Karzai and the Vice President, Mohammad Fahim. Yet, the United States seems to stay silent.
The takeover of this bank shows how inherently corrupt and hopeless the situation in Afghanistan is. American and NATO soldiers are dying while the plunder of the Country continues. Why continue this war that seems to have no end?
