Although Someone Showed Some Spine.....

Al Franken cut off Joe Lieberman yesterday during a speech Lieberman made his case for supposedly saving Medicare. Joe Lieberman is the same guy who has been on a crusade to kill healthcare reform. The Republicans came out to slam Franken for not showing courtesy to a fellow Senator. To me, this was a Senate Process and nothing else. But, what worries me is how the Democrats continue to cave in and forget why the country went for them. They are trying to be bipartisan while there seems to be a concerted effort to thwart effort at blocking the Obama Agenda. This scares me to death:

With this prominence within conservative and evangelical circles, I am now totally convinced that Senator DeMint wants to be President. It seems to me that he and the rest of the participants seem to forget the separation of Church and State in America. The problem is that because Democrats have failed to be Democrats, these guys and their twisted view of how America is will have a chance to be heard. They have big money behind them and they will make gains.

What should trouble the White House as The Obama Adminstration approaches its' first year is a realization that nothing has changed. Healthcare reform is up in the air because everyone has something against it. The economy is still in a state of flux, America is sending more troops to Afghanistan and Iraq is yet to change. I see a Republican playbook that will tell us how things have been so screwed up that the Republicans will ride in on their white horse to save the day, yet we will end up having more of the same. Although the Republicans will tell the country that they are acting in the people's interest, they seem to have no clue what the real people are faced with. What will they say to the 45,000 people who die each year because they don't have healthcare? I wonder.
