Al Jazeera's View of the World
As I wind down the Quarter, I thought this to be a fitting end. I saw this interview with Director General of Al Jazeera about what News should be. I was especially taken aback with the Director General noted Al Jazeera's mission to give "voice to the voiceless".
I am proud to be a fan of Al Jazeera because they understand the world as no other. Many of us understood how wrong the United States was with its policy in Afghanistan and Iraq. What he has noted in his thoughts about the need for dialogue and doing things "differently" is absolutely paramount:
Al Jazeera has paid a heavy price for being right. I constantly source Al Jazeera for my daily "write-ups". They showed a lot of spine with what they went through in Yemen and Morocco. Gaza made them into a household world. I was glued to Al Jazeera as the Al Jazeera team told the way it was to counter Israeli Propaganda. I was laughing when he talked about how Arab Governments accused Al Jazeera of being a creature of Mossad and the CIA.
As I continue on with this work here, I hope that Al Jazeera does not give up and continues to be at the forefront of the true transformation we are seeing.
