A Virtual High Five to Matthew Freud
Matthew Freud is the husband of Elizabeth Murdoch. Elizabeth Murdoch is Rupert Murdoch's second daughter. Mr. Freud is a well-connected Public Relations executive who made comments to the New York Times that I very much welcome. According to the report, he noted that he was "ashamed and sickened by Roger Ailes' horrendous and sustained disregard of the journalistic standards that News Corporation, its founder and every other media business aspires to...". This is as strong a statement as I have seen and I commend him for speaking his mind.
Although I have read that the Murdoch Children espouse more "liberal" positions, they have to figure out a way to change and tell Rupert Murdoch to think of his legacy. But, this change will take a while. As long as the likes of Sarah Palin, Glen Beck and Bill O"Reilly continue to get top billing, we will have more of the same. I caught Sarah Palin's first act on O'Reilly's Digital Rag, the Factor. She basically trashed everyone and claimed to speak for the "common" folk and bashed the liberal media. She referred everyone to her book. Her book is so full of inaccuracies and lies that is beyond reason. What was sad was that O'Reilly was talking to Palin while all the other major news channels were focused on Haiti. I found that very, very frustruating.
What I found refreshing was how Matthew Freud had the courage to speak up. Will this courage translate into real change?
