9/11, The Spectacle in Florida & Other Thoughts
As America rememberd 9/11, the debate over the role of Islam rages on. It is a debate that continues to veer dangerously towards racism and outright suspicion and should be of concern to all.
I was following the debate in Florida with disgust and released write-ups on it in SP's sister sites, Kitten politics & Outsider Views. I was especially sickened by the wacko Terry Jones and how he managed to manipulate the media as he did. The story took on a life of its' own. That was the biggest tragedy of it all.
I nearly fell of my Chair in laughter when I saw Donald Trump's offer to pay a 25 percent premium to buy the Park51 Property. He wanted to pay cash for it with a provision that the proposed center be moved at least 5 blocks away. The man is amazing in that he just wants to relish in publicity for the sake of publicity. He is now hawking a line of beddings with his "brand name". Being a businessman is one thing. Wanting to take advantage of this calamity is just not right.
What happens now? There will continue to be this suspicion of Muslims. It will continue to be pushed by all who continue to stay focused on those so called Bin Laden Heirs who were recently featured in a CNN special. However, there needs to be a continued push to marginalize the so-called radicals. Those who embrace and understand true Islam have not done so:
There is of course Rudy Gilluani. He talked about how "radical" the founder of the Cordoba House is. I have to wonder where he was when the Imam was at the forefront of the outreach by the Bush Adminstration. Now, I guess he is a "bad" Muslim. I hope he will at least the take the time to listen to what the Imam had to say about it. The story of what is right about Islam is something that has to be told and told consistently. What I am especially disturbed about is that he's one of the few real sensible ones still left in Republican Circles.
9/11 was about unity and coming together. It was about to overcome a sense of suspicion and the necessity to come together. That's what all should do. That's why it is imperative to continue the fight for the sake of the future.

QUOTE ME NO QUOTES!
Good post Mike, I hope more Americans start to question the mainstream media and politicians about what their hidden agendas and obligations are.
One thing that continues to puzzle me though; with so many experts coming out and demanding a proper independant examination of all the facts of the 9-11 incidents, (and much was denied inclusion the 2004 examination, including the absense of building seven) that no media is calling for such an investigation?
What has happened to America? The evidence is overwhelming that a conspiracy was afoot. Major General Stubblebine (who was head of the military intelligence for years) has openly criticised the investigation, including the fact that he asserts, from all observable intelligence photographs, no passenger jet hit the Pentagon!
So what is going on?
cheers
